GroundTruth is a mobile advertising platform specializing in location powered mobile ads. Our services help brands reach consumers with relevant ads at the relevant time. GroundTruth is committed to responsible data privacy practices that provide consumers with transparency and control. In this blog post, we’d like to highlight the many steps we take to comply with all legal and self-regulatory requirements applicable to our business practices:
1. For several years, GroundTruth has been audited annually by TrustArc (the new TRUSTe), a leading data privacy management company, receiving their TRUSTed Data Collection Certification in the US and their independent certification under the EDAA framework in the EU.
2. GroundTruth adheres to the The Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA) Principles and was a launch partner for their AppChoices program.
3. We work with partners to help ensure location used on our platform has the appropriate permissions, and that consumers can revoke their permission for the use of their location information in our products and services.
4. A consumer who would like to exercise choice regarding the collection of application use data for interest-based advertising by us and other companies that participate in those choice tools, can download DAA’s AppChoices mobile app or TrustArc’s TRUSTe mobile app on your iOS or Android device. For your convenience we’ve included these details below.
Finally, GroundTruth remains diligent in actively preparing for new regulation, such as the General Data Privacy Regulation (known as the GDPR). This is a regulation by which the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, and the European Commission intend to regulate personal data for all individuals within the European Union (EU). It is due to become enforceable on May 25, 2018.
Since early 2017, GroundTruth has proactively taken steps to help ensure that we are ready when GDPR comes into force. And it doesn’t stop there for us—these responsible practices are not a box to check and forget about. As our products continue to develop and advance, so will our compliance efforts.
